We’ve Got a Studio. Come See It!

The paint is dry, the gear has found a home, and we're finally ready to have people over for our first official Open House!
Join us Wednesday, October 7, from 4–7 p.m. at the QuickFlip Media studio (5500 Florida Blvd. Suite 104) for snacks, a tour of the space and a look at what we've been up to.
We signed the contract on the studio back in April, but it needed a little TLC. I've painted every room in every house I've ever lived in, so of course I offered to paint our new studio myself when given the option to help drop the leasing price.
I've been very intentional about operating QuickFlip lean. Every dollar we don't unnecessarily spend on overhead is a dollar we don't have to build into what we charge our clients. Sometimes that means doing things the decidedly unglamorous way. If I can paint a wall instead of paying someone else to paint a wall, I'm probably going to paint the wall.
Of course, it took a little more than paint. And not everything was something I could do on my own. For example, we needed a utility sink, which required a plumber.
Then came the really big job: moving three years of QuickFlip into one place.
Until then, our operations had been split between our house and our co-working spot at The Groworking Space on Government Street, better known as the home base for Rep Cap. Cameras might be in one place. A piece of audio gear might be in the other. And inevitably, whatever I needed at that particular moment was wherever I wasn't.
I didn't realize how much that was affecting me until it stopped.
It's been a few months now, and having everything in one place has completely changed the way we work. I can walk into the gear room and grab what I need. We can shoot in the studio, edit in the office and meet with a client in the conference room without packing anything into the car.
It sounds incredibly simple. It is incredibly simple. And it is glorious.
We've spent the past few months slowly making the studio ours, including adding some pretty cool artistic touches and a little pizzazz. It's functional, but it also finally feels like QuickFlip.
And now we're ready to show it off. Honestly, I think some people are going to be surprised by everything else they see here, too.
We like to make every client feel like they're our only client. The funny side effect of that is that sometimes our clients have no idea how much other work we're doing.
Over the past three years, we've shot conferences, interviews, commercials, podcasts, events, headshots and social content. We've built websites. We've traveled. We've worked with businesses and organizations of all sizes. And we've accumulated a frankly ridiculous amount of gear along the way.
The Open House is a chance to pull back the curtain a little bit.
Come see the studio. See what we've been working on. Check out some of the tools we use to make it happen. Ask us questions. Have a snack. Hang out for a while.
And, of course, admire the paint job.
