How to Kickstart Your Video Marketing in 2025

Turn Your Smartphone Into a Marketing Powerhouse

So, you’ve decided to up your marketing game in 2025—smart move! If there’s one strategy that should top your list, it’s video marketing. Why? Because video is king when it comes to grabbing attention, building trust, and driving conversions. Not to mention, platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are where your audience is already spending their time.

But where do you start? Let’s break it down:

1. Start Small with What You Have

You don’t need fancy cameras or Hollywood budgets to get started. Your smartphone is a powerful tool that can shoot high-quality videos. Begin by creating short, authentic clips that showcase your products, services, or even behind-the-scenes moments. People value realness over perfection.

2. Choose the Right Platform

Not every platform is a perfect fit for your business. If you’re targeting professionals, LinkedIn is a great place for educational or explainer videos. If you’re after a younger audience, focus on TikTok or Instagram Reels. Tailor your content to the platform to maximize engagement.

3. Focus on Storytelling

Great videos tell a story. Instead of just promoting your products, share the “why” behind what you do. Highlight how your business solves a problem or makes life better for your customers. A compelling narrative creates a stronger connection with your audience.

4. Keep It Short and Sweet

Attention spans are shrinking, so aim for videos under 60 seconds when possible. I like to try and aim for 30 seconds if the video is image driven. If there's dialouge, then it can go longer. No matter how long the video goes, the first few seconds are the most important. You will need an eye-catching visual or headline, then deliver your message quickly and clearly.

5. Add a Clear Call-to-Action

Every video should end with a clear next step. Whether it’s “Visit our website,” “Shop now,” or “Sign up today,” make it easy for viewers to act. Adding clickable links or buttons can boost engagement and conversions. When you produce a video that isn't "selling" anything, invite the viewer to make a comment. Engagement is often more important than the number of views.

6. Experiment and Analyze

Don’t be afraid to test different types of videos, such as tutorials, testimonials, or live streams. Use analytics tools to see what resonates with your audience, then refine your approach based on the data. Also, make sure you have a clear idea of who you are trying to reach with the content. A video that gets worldwide attention will help boost your followers, but can those followers help your business? If not, reconsider the messages you're sharing.
